About me

Video editor & camera operator

Mick Walker has been working professionally in the video and TV production industry since 2005, he’s won a few awards, worked on around 400 projects and drinks around 6 cups of tea a day on average.

After graduating from University of Derby’s Film & Video course, he was selected for EM Media’s Graduate Entrepreneurship scheme which successfully landed him a role at one of the East Midlands leading video production companies.

After building up his skills in editing and Digibeta camerawork, plus leading the edit on an RTS award-winning project, Mick took a 6-month break to travel the globe and mostly found himself in Australia.

On his return, Mick began his freelance career and launched his own production company Boxset Media in 2009. Over the following years he worked in Europe, Africa and the Americas for various businesses, agencies and broadcasters.

In 2011, a Boxset Media health & safety film won the NASHiCs Learning and Training award.

In 2012, Boxset Media’s film for Fordham University in New York was nominated for a Royal Television Society award.

In 2015, Boxset Media was named Best Corporate Video Production Agency in the UK Corporate Excellence Awards with two of Mick’s projects nominated for Royal Television Society awards that same month. In 2016, Mick was named Video Producer of the Year in Corporate LiveWire’s 2016 Innovation & Excellence Awards.

In 2018, Mick won Best Visual Effects for his work on ‘Shining Tor’, a short film that has been shown at Cannes Film Festival and international festivals in Los Angeles and New York.

Currently, Mick is developing a number of projects. He enjoys playtime with his cat and Lake District walks with his girlfriend as well as the occasional real ale. He may also binge watch Deadwood again, lend you a Magnus Mills book or go to an Anjunadeep gig with you.
